30 Years of Grace

Catholic Broadcasting Northwest, Inc. began broadcasting on December 8, 1989, and operates as a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit, non-commercial organization.  We went on the air as America’s very first lay-owned Catholic radio station – 88.3 FM KBVM in Portland, Oregon.  Today, more 600 Catholic stations are in operation across the country.

That growth is a direct result of the prayerful generosity we have received from thousands of faithful listeners over the past three decades!  Here are some great memories from the “30 Years of Grace” built through this legacy of giving:

On December 20, 2011,  Catholic Broadcasting Northwest, Inc. started broadcasting in the south end of the Willamette Valley with 94.9 FM KMME in Cottage Grove, Oregon, and 100.5 FM Translator K 2 3 5 B F in Eugene, Oregon.

The Summer of 2019 marked a historic moment for the station, as we moved into our very own media center in Southwest Portland. This new state-of-the-art facility will allow Mater Dei Radio to lead even more souls closer to Christ through the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Check out this wonderful video from the Blessing of this beautiful building  with Portland Archbishop Alexander K. Sample.
