One of the Most Historic Rivalries in Oregon High School Football
Central Catholic and Jesuit will meet in a football game for the 38th time as they renew the rivalry with a September 28th matchup at Jesuit’s Cronin Field. The series dates back to 1958, and the teams played each other in league games annually from 1970 to 1985 before they were separated into different leagues.
The rivalry has seen some brief renewals since, but the current run of the Crusaders and Rams playing each other annually in nonleague games started in 2010 as both teams became perennial state title contenders. In 2014, Central Catholic defeated Jesuit in the OSAA State Championship Game, the first time both teams ever met in the state championship title game. Jesuit won the state title in 2015, defeating Tigard.
Jesuit leads the overall series 21-15-1, but Central Catholic has a 6-4 edge in the current run. Central Catholic won last year’s contest 28-24 at Central Catholic.
