The William Byrd Festival returns to Portland in August, and for the first time in the history of the festival, it will include British composers of the past century such as Britten, Finzi, Howells, MacMillan, and others. Services will be sung by Cantores in Ecclesia, directed by Blake Applegate and Festival Artistic Director Mark Williams, Informator Choristarum & Organist at Magdalen College, Oxford, UK. Lectures will be given by leading scholars Dr. William Mahrt, Dr. Ross Duffin, and Portland’s own Dr. Kerry McCarthy.
Admission for most events is free, with a free-will offering. Tickets for the August 3rd, 7th, 10th, and 18th concerts are $20-35 general admission and $15 students; they are available in advance at https://cantores.ticketleap.com/ or at the door.
