“Tenebrae is a unique and special liturgy…The chants of Jeremiah, or lessons, are interspersed with the singing of psalms and the extinguishing of candles so that the Church becomes increasingly dark. At the end of the final lesson, the final candle is removed by a server and hidden behind a curtain or the altar, signifying the burial of Our Lord in the tomb.”
