William Byrd Festival

Cantores in Ecclesia presents the 23rd annual William Byrd Festival, featuring choral masterpieces by the great Renaissance composer William Byrd and his teacher and mentor, Thomas Tallis.  English conductor and organist Mark Williams will share the direction of Cantores in Ecclesia with its resident director, Blake Applegate.  Lectures will be given by Dr. William Mahrt, Dr. Ross Duffin, and Dr. Kerry McCarthy.  The complete schedule includes an organ recital, six liturgical services, four public lectures, and two concerts.

Admission for most events is free, with a free-will offering.  Tickets for the August 5th and 21st concerts are $25 general admission, $20 seniors & students; they are available in advance by phone at 1-800-838-3006, online at www.brownpapertickets.com, or at the door.

Cantores in Ecclesia provides Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony in liturgical contexts.  It has established itself as a leader in liturgical and early music performance, winning loyal supporters at home and top honors in international competition.
