Saint Alice Catholic Church, Springfield

We are so excited to feature St. Alice! Listen below to our interview with Fr. Mark, then learn a little bit more about the parish below.

  • St. Alice is a vibrant bilingual community that has grown over the past several years, with many marriages and young families.
  • Pastor Fr. Mark Bentz and all the fantastic staff and volunteers do amazing work!
  • Their parish has a beautiful focus on Eucharist, especially Adoration and the Liturgy. Some areas include:
    • They are a Perpetual Adoration Parish, with a 24 hour Adoration Chapel
    • Monthly Nights of Hope and Healing
      • Healing ministry team support monthly healing nights, and are formed through the Encounter School.
    • Focus on Sacred Music
      • Music Mondays open to all parishioners who want to learn the chants of the Mass and how to sing Gregorian chant. They also have an adult choir and youth choir,
    • First Saturday Devotion
    • A Family Holy Hour was held this past Sunday with the Seven Sorrows Rosary.
    • Confession is available almost every day
  • Saint Alice also has a wonderful focus on Marriage and Family Life, with activities such as:
    • Meal Train
    • St. Joseph Homeschool Academy – which still did fun meetups over summer!
    • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
    • Brunch and Babies fellowship
    • Mama Meetups
    • Great resources for marriage and Natural Family Planning

Other Parish Activities:

  • St. Alice just had the relic of St. Jude visit!
  •  St. Vincent de Paul does in-home visits while providing beds, tables, chairs, and appliances. They meet on 1st Saturdays, and are also doing a Christmas Giving Tree.
  • Homeless Ministry gathers twice a month to prepare lunch bags, drive around town, and provide other supplies and prayer,
  • Coffee and Donuts
  • Women’s Group Monday afternoons
  • Through the Bible Study Wednesday nights
  • Young Adults Ministry, which did a great Theology on Tap series over the summer!

Upcoming Events:

  • This week is a big kickoff of Sacramental Preparation and Fall Faith Formation, including women’s groups resuming, first day of new bible study, and RCIA.
  • October 5: Votive Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
  • October 5: First Annual Tea Party –
  • October 6: Blessing of the Animals at 1pm
  • October 12 – 13: Tamale pick up as a fundraiser for the St. Alice Chapter of the Nocturnal Adoration Society

      • St. Alice is a perpetual adoration parish. This means that the Holy Eucharist is exposed for adoration 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They encourage all parishioners to sign up for a weekly, committed Holy Hour.
