Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, Independence
We are thrilled to be highlighting Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Independence! Learn a few facts about this incredibly active parish, and tune in Wednesday at 8:40 a.m. to hear more.
- Prior to the parish being established in 1910, Catholics in the Independence area were served by the Saint Anthony Chapel railroad car.
- Saint Patrick’s has experienced rapid growth, especially in their Hispanic community, and has a full church at each of the weekend Masses!
- The parish supports the Catholic Campus Ministry at Western Oregon University in nearby Monmouth, which has a campus house and chapel.
- Be sure to catch the Saint Patrick’s Knights of Columbus Taco Booth at the Mount Angel Oktoberfest!
- Saint Patrick’s just had their annual parish Mass and picnic this past weekend.
- Summer activities included the Taco Booth in Monmouth Main Street Park, Vacation Bible School, Kermes parish Fundraiser, Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit, and a bus trip to The Grotto!
There are numerous ministries taking place every day of the week in the parish, including:
- Youth ministry
- Knight of Columbus, who assist elderly who need small jobs done around the house and host a monthly breakfast on the 3rd Sunday
- Homebound ministry
- Saint Juan Diego programs, Misioneros Apóstoles de la Palabra, and many other programs for Spanish speaking community
- Rosary Ministry. In the first half of 2024, this ministry made and shipped over 4500 rosaries to a missionary service
Ladies Guild, which organizes activities such as the Valentines Bake Sale, Bible studies, care of parish kitchen and church, Bingo, Epiphany Brunch, Parish Picnic, Muffin Sunday after Mass, etc. - Neocatechumenal Way
Parish Mission Statement:
- Patrick’s Church is a Catholic, multicultural parish within a collegiate, agricultural, and industrial community. The parish’s mission is to worship and work together so our community will grow more in love and acceptance of one another and be apostles as Christ teaches us. We accept that we have differences and will use them to unite us as one in Christ. We shall pursue this mission faithfully through the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts and talents of our members.
