Our Parish for the Week of May 7:
St. Joseph Catholic Church & School in Vancouver, WA
About St. Joseph Catholic Church
- St. Joseph Catholic Church is a vibrant and growing community of faith comprised of a diversity of people in terms of language, culture, age, and stage of life. They are blessed to have a large Spanish speaking community as a part of the parish! They welcome all those visiting, looking for a new parish home, or considering a return to the practice of their faith.
- St. Joseph’s shares that their parish is “a community of believers and a spiritual family that is supportive and loving.” They value quality liturgical experiences, life-long faith formation, and being in service to each other and the broader community. They strive to “live out our mission to Love God, Love Our Neighbor, and Make Disciples.”
- If you come to Mass at St. Joseph, you will notice that they have a Welcome Center in the narthex of the church. The Welcome Center is staffed before and after each Sunday Mass, so please feel free to stop by with any questions and to introduce yourself. Their staff and volunteers would very much like to welcome you personally!

About St. Joseph Catholic School
The Parish School, St. Joseph Catholic School, is dedicated to offering students a well-rounded, Christ-centered education in a caring school community, while affording them the opportunity to serve as Jesus did. Catholic doctrine, traditions, and values are taught in daily formal religion classes and are integrated into all subject areas, but most importantly, permeate the entire climate of the school.
Some of the incredible Social Ministries at St. Joseph’s:
- Project Homeless Connect: Each January St. Joseph is blessed to host Project Homeless Connect. This event provides vital services, such as dental work, eye care, vaccinations, pet care, haircuts and much more!
- Parish Garden: A dedicated group of parishioners works diligently to plan, plant, nurture and cultivate our parish garden with the goal of harvesting primarily vegetables, herbs and flowers. One recipient of this bounty includes St. Vincent de Paul, who in turn distributes to needy families in our local community!
- Prepares: The PREPARES program offers support and activities for families at any time from pregnancy to a child’s fifth birthday! St. Joseph volunteers are providing loving and supportive friendship to parents with young children. PREPARES for Life holds regular free diaper distributions for families to help alleviate financial pressure.
- Congregation to Compost: St. Joseph participates in Clark County’s Congregation to Compost Program which allows faith-based organizations to establish community composting centers to serve the organization, congregation members and neighborhood residents. By participating in this project, our parish helps turn kitchen food scraps into compost, a rich soil amendment, to be used by gardeners and farmers in the Pacific Northwest.
- Parish Nurse Program: Our new parish nurse program aims to care for the members of our parish! This role involves integrating faith and healing to promote wellness within our community.
