Saint Paul Catholic Church & School in Saint Paul, Oregon


We are so excited to feature Saint Paul’s Catholic Church and School in historic Saint Paul, Oregon!

A Little About the Parish:

  • First Mass in Oregon celebrated on Epiphany in 1839 – just over 185 years ago!
  • First Catholic parish (October 1839) and school (1944) established in what is now the State of Oregon.
  • Fr. Scott Baier, pastor of St. Paul’s Parish, provided us with some fascinating historical records of St. Paul!
  • St. Paul’s is a small, tight-knit community with many pioneer and farming families.
  • St. Paul Parochial School’s serves Pre-K through 8th Grade!
  • St. Paul’s is starting a new building project of a gym and parish center, as they currently don’t have a parish event space or a great recess space.

 

Parish Liturgies:

  • Mass
    • Weekend Masses are Saturday 6pm Vigil and Sunday 9am Mass
    • Tuesdays at 6 pm, Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday at 8:30 am, School Mass on Fridays at 2 p.m.
  • Adoration Tuesdays 5 – 6 pm and Thursdays 9 am to noon
  • Confessions Tuesday after Mass, Fridays and Saturdays before Mass

Activities and past special events include:

  • 4th of July Rodeo in St. Paul (which has been taking place for 90 years!) is a major fundraiser for the parish and school
  • Community Potluck
  • Regular Women Bible Study and Men’s Group
  • Wednesday Lenten Mass at 7 am so that high school students could come before school
  • Italian Dinner / Community Feast on the Vigil of St. Paul’s Feast Day
  • Book studies
  • Christmas Children’s Mass

 

Upcoming Events:

  • All Night Vigil for Pentecost
    • Beginning the evening of Friday, May 17
    • Planning to chant all 150 Psalms during the night, with breakfast at 7am the next morning (May 18)
  • July 2-6 St. Paul Rodeo
    • Pay for parking at the school, and buy chicken dinners from the parish at City Hall or near the Rodeo arena!
